Hey, can I borrow that sweatshirt?

It never failed. During weekend getaways at our island retreat, someone (myself included) always begged to borrow a particular sweatshirt of my husband’s. That well-worn favorite - still looking great after years of wear - gave me an idea ... and inspired me to create what I was looking for ... a line of high-quality casual separates for women. (You see, I had yet to find a brand that I, myself, would wear. Conventional women’s brands seemed to lack functionality, felt bulky in all the wrong places, and reflected little sense of personal style.)

With 20 years in retail, including a Nordstrom Company co-presidency, I knew just where to begin. I located one of the finest cotton makers in the world and began fashioning their soft, supple, 100% cotton into complementary core basics. My signature item: an unbelievably comfy — and great looking — sweatshirt, of course!

201R Sweatshirt Today that zip-neck cotton sweatshirt continues to be a top seller. (We’ve sold more than 70,000 to date and still counting!). Over the years, we’ve added other timeless favorites, but have kept the collection small by design. For each season, you’ll find 12 to 18 current basics which can be worn alone or combined with pieces from this and previous collections for a pulled-together, coordinated look.
